DURING THE SHOW
It’s SHOWTIME! Time to entertain and dazzle your future customers. With proper preparation the only thing you’ll have to worry about the day of your show is the show itself.
Trade Show Best Practices
Your booth is your show and you need an audience. Engage people who walk in front of your booth, and never be behind a table.
Stand for your guests. Smile, shake their hand, treat them like your best customer.
KNOW YOUR STUFF. Everyone representing your company at the show should know how to answer all the common questions of your business.
Every guest should walk away with something (Flyers, Business Cards, Giveaway Items, etc.)
Never give without getting. Get contact information for a promo item, get a commitment to call with a flyer, trade business cards and promise to call.
Don’t give promises you can’t keep. Use pricing questions as opportunities to schedule appointments with decision makers. Use phrases like “Typically” and “On Average” to avoid issues and false promises.
HAVE FUN and SMILE! People want to work with fun, approachable people.
Attention Grabbers
Attention grabbers are important to draw someone into a conversation quickly. Be creative and re-use what works!
An insulation installer may say, “Your window is open! The average home has enough air leaks to equal an open window…”
A roofing expert may break the ice with, “When a dog barks, does it say ruff or roof?”
Have an awesome giveaway? Say, “Want to win a new TV? Take this survey and give our wheel a spin.”
A tax professional could say, “Want to save 30% more of your yearly income?”
Interaction Flow
See someone looking at your booth.
Use attention grabbers.
Use 30-Second Howdy to tell them who you are, what you do, and to bring them in.
“Ask and Answer” questions.
Demo your product.
Be ready for the opportunity to schedule an appointment.
Create opportunity by using your tradeshow specific offer flyer.
Ask if they are interested in winning a prize. If so, have them give information and let them try to win!
Thank them for their time and let them know you look forward to helping them increase their revenue, efficiency, or fun!
30-Second Howdy
A good “elevator pitch” gets people interested and verifies lead potential. Be smooth, fast, and get them into your booth!
